In the year that King Uzziah died, I [Isaiah] saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
Isaiah 6:1 NKJV
In biblical times, when kings went to war against each other, the victorious king would cut a piece from the defeated king’s robe and sew it onto his own robe to lengthen it. The length of the king’s robe would be a sign of his greatness and it would indicate the number of battles he won. The longer the train of his robe, the more glorious, victorious, and splendid the king.
The bible verse from Isaiah 6:1 tells us that the train of Jesus’ robe fills the temple, confirming that He is the One victorious King who has won every battle and has conquered death, sin, and Satan’s kingdom of darkness. He has completely defeated the enemy and He shares His amazing victory with us. Hallelujah – thank You Jesus!
Scripture tells us that we will all face spiritual warfare at some point in our journey with the Lord. (Examples include: Ephesians 6:10-18; 2 Timothy 2:3-4; and 2 Corinthians 10:3-6.) When we are in a spiritual battle, the first step to victory is understanding that Jesus has already won every battle and that He shares His amazing victory with us. The Lord knows what we are facing, therefore He knows how to help us overcome so that we can defeat the enemy. Believing this gives us the faith we need to fight for the victory we know we have in Christ.
At this point, may I encourage you to pray and ask the Lord the following questions:
- Lord, is there an area in my life where I don’t believe I have the victory?
- Or, Lord, have I lost faith for the victory and therefore I have stopped trying?
Be sensitive to the voice and leading of the Holy Spirit as He guides you.
Then, ask the Lord to give you the faith you need, as well as the battle plan to secure your victory in Christ. You may want to make notes of everything that the Holy Spirit shows you so that you can refer to it later.
When we go into a spiritual battle, we must know that God is for us, that He fights for us, and that He is faithful. We must know that He is our victorious King and that the enemy is already defeated. We must also know that Jesus has given us authority over all the power of the enemy. Because the enemy will attack our identity in Christ, we must know who we are in Christ (our identity) and believe it in our hearts, so that we can stand against these lies.
In closing off this message, I would like to encourage you with these words: The size of the giant or mountain in front of us may be big, but let us choose to remember that God is stronger, greater and mightier than anything we will face in this life. Choose to trust Him completely for your victory.
Here are just a few Scriptures to remind us of how great our God is:
- Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You.
1 Kings 8:27 NKJV
- Who has measured the waters [of the sea] in the hollow of His hand, measured heaven with a span and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure? Weighed the mountains in scales and the hills in a balance?
Isaiah 40:12 NKJV
- Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?
Jeremiah 32:27 NKJV
- Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and You are exalted as head over all.
1 Chronicles 29:11 NKJV
- How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand.
Psalm 139:17-18 NKJV
- When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit [give attention to or care for] him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of your hands; You have put all things under his feet.
Psalm 8:3-6 NKJV
- I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. When my enemies turn back, they shall fall and perish at Your presence.
Psalm 9:1-3 NKJV
Blessings in Jesus’ mighty name.
