There was a time a few years ago when I felt constantly defeated by the enemy. I knew that Jesus had already won the victory for us, but I just wasn’t experiencing it. During this time, the Lord taught me that I needed to proclaim in faith that I had the victory in Christ, even before I experienced it. I also remember one day hearing the Lord say to me, “You are well able to overcome this.”
A victory proclamation is coming into agreement with what the written Word of God says (regardless of our current circumstance), and then in faith, declaring it over our situation. We don’t come into agreement with what the enemy wants us to believe, but we stand firm in the truth – that the Lord has given us the victory in Christ, that we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us, and that our enemies are under our feet. We claim the victory before we even see it, knowing that God will reward our faith. Thank You Jesus!
Here are a few examples of victory proclamations from the Scriptures:
- Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ.
2 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV
- But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ
1 Corinthians 15:57 NKJV
- For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.
1 John 5:4 NKJV
- One man of you shall chase a thousand, for the LORD your God is He who fights for you, as He promised you.
Joshua 23:10 NKJV
- And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.
Romans 16:20 NKJV
- Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Romans 8:37 NKJV
- Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Luke 10:19 NKJV
I remember at that time looking for examples of victory proclamations, so that I could write these out and declare them over the battle I was facing. The purpose of writing a victory proclamation is to increase our faith in what God’s Word promises us – victory over our enemies. Because I had struggled with the same spiritual battle for such a long time, I lacked the faith I needed in order to overcome. When we speak the truth of God’s Word over our situation or over the battle we are facing, our faith grows. The Lord takes His word from our minds and plants it deep in our hearts, so that we believe it. When our faith is strengthened in this way, it gives us the determination we need to fight for the victory He has promised us.
Below is an example of what a written victory proclamation could look like:
“I praise You Lord Jesus! You are our mighty God and You have won the war over sin, Satan and death. You are completely victorious over all the power of the enemy, and we thank You Lord that You share Your amazing victory with us. I have been born-again into Your eternal family, and I am dearly loved. Your Word promises that You have armed me with strength for battle (Psalm 18:39). Thank You that You have given me authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19), and that no weapon formed against me will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Thank You that You have also given me everything I need to live a victorious life in Christ. Thank You for promising me that You will never leave me nor forsake me (Hebrews 13:5). Thank You Father that You will always lead me in triumph in Christ (2 Cor. 2:14).”
May I encourage you to take a moment to pray. Ask the Lord if there is any area in your spiritual walk where you may be struggling to overcome something, or where you may have lost faith for the victory. Perhaps you would like to write out your own victory proclamation with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit. The Lord cares for you and He wants you to have the victory that Jesus won for us. He will guide you to specific Scripture verses or passages that will give you the faith you need to overcome.
Once you have written out your victory proclamation, I would encourage you to declare it over your life and over the battle you are facing. God will always be true to His Word. He will fulfill each promise He has made you and one day you will be able to share your testimony with others of how God helped you overcome. Thank You Jesus!
